ABOUT LAWYER MIKE

I have been a real estate lawyer since June 6, 2009, and have successfully completed over a thousand transactions throughout Ontario. For the first seven years of my career I practiced with a 3-5 lawyer firm in Innisfil, followed by five years at a 30-lawyer firm with offices throughout Simcoe County. I decided to start MNP Real Estate Law in November of 2021 and have found joy in being a sole practitioner.  The mentorship and training I received at my previous firms was invaluable, but it was time to move forward and create my own path. 


I served approximately 10 years on the board of the Barrie Real Estate Lawyers Association, including three years as President.  I was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Innisfil, and was the 2011 Simcoe County Young Professionals Association "Young Professional of the Year".  I completed an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, with a minor in psychology at Wilfried Laurier University, and my Bachelor of Laws with a business law concentration at the University of Western Ontario.

In my spare time you can find me "climbing the walls" at AltRock, or on the slopes of Snow Valley & Mt St. Louis Moonstone.



WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM LAWYER MIKE?



A real estate deal is typically the most substantial transaction in a person's life, and can often be stressful and overwhelming.  I promise to ease your stress, not add to it.  I promise you will never complete an interaction with me feeling rushed or confused.    Being a good lawyer requires excellent customer service, involving clear communication, attention  to detail and accommodating clients.  I am dedicated to providing you with a smooth transaction.


Clarity & Thoroughness


Whether on the phone, via e-mail or in person you can count on me to communicate clearly and without legal jargon, or big, fancy words. My vocabulary, while extensive, is for crossword puzzles and trivia. When it comes to language, my motto is: “if there’s a simpler word – use it”. 


Not only will I be clear; I will be thorough.  Whether outlining the closing process, reviewing closing documents, or discussing options and their consequences , I want you to understand the details of your transaction and will spend the time it takes to ensure that happens.  I have a cap on the number of transactions I accept each month to ensure that each client and his or her transaction gets the required attention.   Taking on fewer transactions also helps avoids the dreaded last-minute rush and the inherent stress and potential for mistakes.   


Availability & Flexibility


If you call me, and I'm not with a client - I will answer. If I miss your call, I will call you back as soon as possible. Not within 3 to 5 business days, not within 24 hours, as soon as possible.
